SUMMARY: The IT Support Technician under the supervision of the Director of Instructional Technology, assists in the coordination and maintenance of the school’s computer network by providing technical assistance to users in various departments within the school. Must remain ahead-of-the field in communications systems/software information. Updates program communication and/or computer software.
ABOUT CHIEF LESCHI SCHOOLS: Formerly known as the Puyallup Tribal School, Chief Leschi Schools was founded in 1976 to address the high dropout rate of the youth of the Puyallup tribe. It is the largest of seven tribal schools in the state of Washington and one of approximately 200+ tribal schools in the United States. It is also one of the largest tribal schools to be funded by the Bureau of Indian Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Installs, troubleshoots and maintains computer workstations, servers, printers, scanners, network equipment, telecommunications equipment, projectors, televisions, 3D printers, any other hardware and component replacement as needed.
- Installs, troubleshoots and maintains various software applications to include; Microsoft Windows, Office (Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, Windows 7-10, and Windows 2008-2019 Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Imaging, and others as needed.
- Maintains detailed documentation of work done and solutions provided.
- Assists in providing on-site training of instructional technology needs, specific to each department/entity of the school. Helps creates one-on-one tutoring/mentorship programs for staff needing specific training in word processing or spreadsheet creation and other applications as needed.
- Installs, configures, and repairs cameras on the Security Camera system.
- Assists in evaluating Instructional Technology systems in terms of their applicability to such objectives as improving instruction, assuring systems reliability, integrating voice and data transmission, sharing critical resources, responding to changing learning conditions and reducing costs and makes recommendations to the Director of Instructional Technology.
- Working in conjunction with the Director of Instructional Technology, provides application solutions by advising on hardware and software configurations to meet user needs and goals.
- Installs a variety of computer-related devices such as desktops, mobile devices, keyboards, printers, cameras, switches at the direction of the CLS Network Analyst or Director of Instructional Technology.
- Remains current on technological advances in the Instructional Technology industry and attends meetings, seminars and training sessions as directed.
- Performs activities that may involve the lifting, moving and installation of equipment. This may include high or confined spaces.
- Assists in any related computer technology as required. Some of the activities may include community projects or involve technical assistance at other sites.
- Performs cleaning activities that may require the use of cleaning equipment such as a vacuum cleaner, broom or mop. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associates degree (A. A.) from a college or university in Computer Science or a related field.
A minimum of one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis (if no degree, must demonstrate a minimum of three years related experience). Additional education still requires minimum experience to be met.
Having the following certification: ITF+, A+, Network +. Proof of enrollment in certification programs is required if not certified.
Any combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work, as determined by the Director.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Having the following certifications is preferred: SECURITY +, MCSE/MCSA
May require a valid driver’s license.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from students, staff, regulatory agencies, or members of the tribal community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or School Board.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
